Getting to the Root Cause of Disease with Dr. Anup Kanodia
Friday Feb 06, 2015
Friday Feb 06, 2015
Dr. Anup Kanodia, MD, MPH discovered that his initial medical school training was not enough for him to fundamentally help people achieve true, long lasting health. Early in his residency at the Mayo Clinic, he began to notice that the symptom/drug approach worked for acute problems, such as severe bacterial infections and heart attacks, but this model was fundamentally flawed for chronic health conditions.
He believes the reason this model is inadequate is because it is entrenched in dispensing pharmaceuticals that often have severe side effects and do not address the “root” cause to treat the person. He went on to do a Harvard Medical School Complementary and Integrative Medicine Fellowship and study functional medicine, and he learned to help people get to the root cause of different illnesses.
On Today’s show Dr. Anup shares with us some of the root causes of common diseases, what many people eat that creates numerous health problems, and what may be robbing you of your health. This is a great interview for those of you who have tried everything and are searching for real solutions, so you can, as Dr. Anup says, “get well, stay well and live well.”

Reset Your Adrenals and Your Life with Dr. Alan Christianson
Monday Dec 08, 2014
Monday Dec 08, 2014
Dr. Alan Christianson is a Naturopathic Physician who specializes in natural endocrinology with a focus on thyroid and adrenal disorders. He is author of the bestselling book Complete Idiot’s Guide to Thyroid Disease, and Healing Hashimoto’s - a Savvy Patient’s Guide and his new book Adrenal Reset Diet.
As a child raised in rural Minnesota, Dr. Christianson struggled with his physical health. Cerebral palsy left him with seizures, poor coordination, and eventual obesity. A devastating comment made by a classmate in 7th grade gym class spurred him into action. He became determined to reset his health and his life. Over the next few weeks he devoured dozens of books on nutrition, fitness, and health and created his own recovery plan. Dr. Christianson gave up sugar and developed an exercise routine. He stuck with it and built on it. With no prior sports experience, he became a varsity football player and his classes’ best endurance runner by 9th grade. This experience taught him that being healthy transformed both how you feel and how others treat you. He also learned that the tickets to health were knowledge and persistence.
He frequently appears on national TV shows like The Doctors and The Today Show as well as magazines like Shape Magazine. When he’s not maintaining a busy practice, his favorite hobbies include mountain unicycling and technical rock climbing. Dr. Christianson lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, with his wife Kirin, and their two children.
On Today’s show we talk about the connection between obesity, food, lifestyle and hormones. Dr. Christianson shares how hormones, specifically adrenal function can impact our lives and how we can reset our adrenals so we can lose weight, and improve energy, sleep and overall health.
