Dr. Mariza Snyder graduated Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West and has a background in biochemistry and certifications in nutrition and aromatherapy. She became passionate about women’s health after her own health crisis. Through functional medicine, whole foods and self-care practices she was able to heal her adrenal dysregulation, fatigue and chronic migraines related to hormone imbalance. Currently, Dr. Mariza serves as an educator on topics relating to women's hormone health. She's the creator of the Women’s Balance Summit and author of five best-selling nutrition books, including The DASH Diet Cookbook, which was featured on Dr. Oz, The Low Glycemic Index Slow Cooker, The Antioxidant Counter, and The Water Infusion Detox Book. She currently finished her sixth book, The Smart Mom's Guide to Essential Oils.

My guest is Dr. Joseph Pizzorno. Dr. Pizzorno is a world-leading authority on science-based natural medicine. A licensed naturopathic physician, educator, researcher, clinician and lecturer, he is founding president of the naturopathic medical school Bastyr University, Editor-in-Chief of Integrative Medicine, A Clinician’s Journal, Treasurer of Board of Institute for Functional Medicine, co-founder of American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, board member of American Herbal Pharmacopeia, and on science boards of Hecht Foundation, Gateway for Cancer Research and Bioclinic Naturals. He is recipient of numerous awards and honors and author/co-author of 12 books, including the best-selling Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine (2 million copies in 6 languages) and the principal textbook in the field, the Textbook of Natural Medicine. Her focus is on the impact of stress on health, willpower, food cravings, weight, chronic disease, and hormone imbalance in women, and the prevention of chronic disease in children’s health, with an emphasis on reducing unnecessary antibiotic use. She is also an avid environmental health advocate, researching and publishing on the impact of toxins on fertility, pregnancy, women’s hormones, and chronic illness in women and children.

You’ve heard me talk about naturopathic and functional medicine and getting to the root cause of your skin and other health issues, and my guest today shares how you may be able to have greater access to this kind of medicine now and even in the future.
My guest today is James Maskell. James has spent the past decade sparking debate and encouraging a shift toward a wellness-centered, functional medicine model. To that end, he created Functional Forum, the world’s largest integrative medicine conference with record-setting participation online and growing physician communities around the world. He’s also the founder of the Evolution of Medicine, a community e-commerce platform which provides resources, tools, and services, making it easier and more affordable for conventional doctors to embark on a new way of managing healthcare.
James has been featured on TEDMED, Huffpost Live, TEDx and more, and is a contributor to Huffington Post, KevinMD, thedoctorblog and MindBodyGreen. He serves on the faculty of George Washington University’s Metabolic Medicine Institute, and speaks regularly on the integrative medicine conference circuit. He lives in Venice Beach, California with his wife and daughter.
